1997 GT Edge Aluminium

The aero technology is immediately evident when you gaze over the sculpted lines of the 6061 T6 aluminium frame featuring an aero downtube, seat tube, and stays. GT’s engineers achieved a technology milestone with the development of aerodynamic tubes with a true NACA* cross-section for production road bikes. But the success of the bike is just as much in the ride as its aero performance. Using aero tubing typically results in a bike that feels “floppy” and uncomfortable. GT has succeeded in retaining the traditional feel of a normal road bike by incorporating a revolutionary design feature: a two-in-one thin wall downtube. This gives our aero bike the “feel” of a traditionally-tubed road bike (a difference you’ll no doubt appreciate after 100 miles or more in the saddle).

With the fastest frame on the planet, we spared no expense in outfitting the bike with the best components available. To help you drop time and the competition down the road, we’ve included a GT Edge carbon fibre aero fork, Mavic CXP-30 deep section aero rims, and a Shimano Dura-Ace 18-speed component group.
