In 1989 The GT All Terra Racing Team was introduced with their four-man strong wrecking crew including Dave Wonderly, Hansjorg Rey, Rishi Grewal and Toby Henderson.

The GT ATB Range took on a new look after the 1988 Karakoram was proclaimed as one of the top 10 best bike designs of the year for its explosive graphics and paint scheme by Mountain Bike Action Magazine. This accolade helped shape the 1989 range where we see a continuation of Amazing Graphics and Paint schemes along with the addition of the Uber Rare and First Fillet Brazed ATB model the Xizang.

With ten models in the Range we start to see a move towards a wider ATB range with the Avalanche dropping to the third spot making way for the Legendary Xizang and the first dedicated Team model the GT Team Avalanche. We also start to see an introduction of a Women’s ATB variant and some GT All Terra Branded accessories.
