Description
The 1993 GT Karakoram is a chromoly mountain bike built around a TIG pulse-welded Tange double-butted frame featuring GT’s Triple Triangle design and a 73mm bottom bracket shell. The proprietary “Bologna Lite” fork uses triple-butted chromoly blades tapered to 27mm with an oversize 1-1/8″ chromoly steer tube, paired to a Tioga Aheadset — a notably modern front-end setup for the era.
Drivetrain duties fall to a full Shimano Deore LX groupset, delivering 21 speeds via Rapid-Fire Plus shifters and anatomically sized crank arms carrying 46/36/26 SG-X chainrings. Araya TM-18 double-wall alloy rims wrapped in Ritchey Z-Max 26×2.1 tires round out a capable trail build available across six frame sizes.
